In 2001 a few of us got together and decided that we wanted to do a production of ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged’. We had no money, no space in which to rehearse, no props, no nothing, just a few actors, determination and Dennis Lynn. Dennis not only gave us the money to produce the show (of which we managed to pay back most of it) he also opened up his home for a rehearsal space, built bleacher seats in the small basement theatre we performed in, helped spread the word, build props and did a little directing along the way. We called ourselves Loose Cannons, and that we were.
We managed to produce three shows with the help of Dennis and remounted his favorite show several years later ‘Complete works of Shakespeare’. This time we did it a the Globe Theatre in West Hollywood. This is by far one of my favorite Dennis Lynn moments: As I’m driving to the theatre to get ready for the night show, I decided to stop off at a grocery store a block away to get a snack. On the corner in front of the grocery store is Dennis dressed up like William Shakespeare himself, handing out flyers and drawing a crowd to get them to see the show. We had no idea he planned to do this, he went out, rented a costume and stood on Santa Monica Blvd handing out flyers and getting people to our show!
Love you my man Dennis!!! The real star of the show!!
