I had the honor and pleasure of caring for Dennis during the last few months of his life. He was a friend for 21 years and my husbands cousin, making me his cousin in-law as he would say. I was able to witness the beautiful man he was to the very end of his life when I learned just 12 hours prior to his death that he had completed paperwork to donate his eyes, bones, organs and tissue to One Legacy, a national organ donation organization. Although he was in a coma, he would not rest until he made sure his request was to be fulfilled. I was with him when he took his last breath. In true “Dennis style” he had a smile on his face and passsed away very peacefully at 8:23 am on 8/23/2012. My husband Jim, daughter Candace and son James will miss him every day of our lives and are so greatfull we had the time and ability to take care of him the way he wanted to be care for. He saw very few people at the end because he did not want to cause pain for his friends seeing him so ill.
I want to thank everyone who has called or who came by the house to see him. I especially want to thank Stan for all your help with the memorial service and for setting up this wonderful site to remember Dennis, a man like no other, a giving man to the very end. He has blessed our lives forever with new friends near and far. Thank you. Janine Waddell
